Way back in the 1980s, I was fortunate enough to start my logistics career at the biggest and baddest logistics company in the country. At the time, they were doing about a billion dollars in sales, had 50 offices scattered across the country, and the Boston office (which is where I worked) was the number one producing office out of all 50.

How to Properly Develop Your Employees
One of the strongest value propositions a leader can give to an employee is the ability for that person to grow in all dimensions of their life. Professional and Personal development are the two most obvious dimensions, but what about Financial growth, Mental growth, or even Spiritual growth?

- Duties: Develop a strong network of Flatbed/Open-Deck customers, negotiate prices with Flatbed carriers, oversee P&L of the Flatbed Division.
- Ideal Profile: Expertise in Flatbed freight, 5+ years of experience in a 3PL brokerage, Exposure to P&L, Previous experience in some form of management, Able to thrive in a KPI-driven environment
- Salary: $80,000 – $105,000
- Location: Chicago, IL
- Duties: Foster a team-oriented and positive culture that is able to drive revenue higher, Build, manage, mentor, and lead a team responsible for all day-to-day brokerage activities, Conduct employee reviews and establish SOPs to increase employee efficiency, Evaluate and improve carrier relationships, Help the sales team with their relationships with shippers, Report to the President.
- Ideal Profile: Expertise in freight transportation, supply chain management, and logistics, 4+ years of experience in freight brokerage sales and operational experience, working knowledge of Truckload, LTL, and Intermodal freight, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, Previous experience as a Branch Manager is a plus.
- Salary: $100,000 – $200,000
- Location: Boston, MA
- Duties: Develop and manage a customer base, Focus on certain lanes, commodities, new markets, and contract opportunities, Conduct employee reviews and establish SOPs to increase employee efficiency, Establish integrated solutions with customers, Bring customer spot quotes and bids to the table regardless of the opportunity, Present and negotiate rates, Report to Sales team manager.
- Ideal Profile: Expertise in selling, negotiating, closing, and managing customers, 1+ years of sales experience within Logistics, Working knowledge of Truckload freight,
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and CRM systems, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, Current book of business is required
- Salary: $50,000 – $65,000
- Location: United States (Remote)
